The County's transfer station card program makes access to solid waste services easy and equitable.

These cards comply with barcode scanners, allowing site operators to quickly approve valid cards, as well as invalidate non-County and expired cards.

County residents wishing to dispose of household waste at any of our eight transfer stations or the Hwy 43 East Regional Landfill site must present their transfer station card, in addition to a valid, government issued piece of photo identification to the site operator.

Get Your Transfer Station Station Cards

Transfer Station cards are available for pick up at the County Administration Office or, if you prefer, your cards can be mailed via Xpresspost at an additional cost of $25.00. 

Property owners must complete a solid waste utility activation form to assign a maximum of two users to their solid waste account. Mail your completed form to Lac Ste. Anne County, Box 219, Sangudo, AB, T0E 2A0; or email it to [email protected].

Are You a Renter?

If you're renting your property, it's your landlord's responsibility to acquire a set of County transfer station cards on your behalf.

Replacing Lost Cards or Getting a New Set

If you're a Lac Ste. Anne County property owner and have not received your transfer station cards, please inform the County Administration Office.

If you've lost your transfer station card, you can purchase a new one from the County Administration Office for $20.00.

To activate your transfer station card(s), a completed solid waste activation form is required. Submit your completed form to the County via regular post or email. Once both your utility fee and your solid waste activation form are processed, your transfer station cards will be activated within five business days.

Please note some exemptions may apply to the solid waste utility if:

  • You are a resident of Sangudo;
  • You have contracted a third-party waste hauler which has a bin located on your residence in the County; or
  • You pay the solid waste fee on your primary property, but own an additional property that is unoccupied.

What happens if I don't pay the utility because I don't use the transfer stations?

The utility applies to all Lac Ste. Anne County residents that own residential improved properties. If the bill remains unpaid, the amount will be subject to standard utility collection.

What will happen when I go to the transfer station to dispose of my solid waste?

Once your Transfer Station card has been activated, the transfer station attendant will scan your card to ensure the card is valid. You must also provide identification to the attendant to ensure the card holder is the person authorized to use the transfer stations.

I am a tenant of a property in the County. How do I get a transfer station card?

The landlord of your rented property must complete a solid waste utility activation form assigning you as the transfer station card user.

When is the bill due?

The amount is due upon receipt of the bill.

If I lose my transfer station card, how do I get a new one?

To obtain a new transfer station card, you must contact the County Administration Office and pay a $20.00 card replacement fee.

What happens to my transfer station card when I sell my property?

You need to complete a sign-off form to close your solid waste utility account with the County. Please note that transfer station cards are non-transferable.

Why can only two people use the transfer station cards?

The barcode scanners used by the transfer station attendants have limited space to display owner names. Because photo ID is also required in order for the names to match, the County had to limit the cards to two people.

Do the exemptions apply to me?

You may qualify for transfer station fee exemptions under certain conditions. Generally speaking, an exemption will be made if you:

  • Are a resident of Sangudo;
  • Have contracted a third-party waste hauler which has a bin located on your residence in the County; or
  • The property owner pays the Solid Waste Fee on their primary property, but owns an additional property that is unoccupied.
