When you follow a few simple photo tips, you increase your chances of winning.

You have between September 1 and October 15, 2025 to submit up to five of your favourite photos into the County Photo Contest. To have a shot at winning, your photos need to adhere to certain creative and technical parameters.

See below for some tips and tricks on submitting pics that may make it into the winner's circle!

Submission tip vertical

Consider the Format

When choosing photos to submit, remember that the end application for the top 13 entries will be as full-page calendar photos. This means that landscape (horizontal) format is preferable to portrait format.

You may have one of the highest-voted submissions, but the County reserves the right to disqualify it if it doesn't work as a calendar photo.

Submission tip resolution

Keep the Resolution High

Winning photos will be used to design the 2025 County Calendar. This means that they need to be high resolution (roughly 10" x 8" at 300 DPI). Not a numbers person? A standard iPhone image (landscape format) will likely suffice.

Sadly, many great submissions are disqualified each year because they fail to meet the minimum resolution.

Submission tip filters

Don't Fudge your Photos

Filters, feathered edges, watermarks and other Photoshop effects are fun to play with, but they'll get your submissions axed. We're looking for straight up, un-doctored photos of people in and around Lac Ste. Anne County.

Even if you're in the top 13, the use of post-production effects on your photos may push you out of the winner's circle.

General Rules of Entry

Who can enter?

The County Photo Contest is open to residents of Lac Ste. Anne County, excluding County employees. Any County resident who submits a photo between September 1 and October 15, 2025 will be considered an entrant.

How many photos can I enter?

Entrants can enter up to five (5) photos in the 2025 County Photo Contest.

How big do my photos need to be?

Images must be of a high enough resolution to be reproduced in a wall calendar. All cameras and mobile devices allow you to configure the quality of the photos you take. Unfortunately, any submissions that fail to meet image quality thresholds will be discarded.

Is there a maximum file size for submissions?

The file size cap is 40MB. If you are uploading five photos, there is a chance they may exceed this file size. If this happens, please send your photos via multiple submissions.

What does the County do with the winning photos?

The winning photos will be featured in a wall calendar that the County will produce in late 2025. The calendar will be available for the public to pick up at different locations across the County (while supplies last). A digital version of the calendar will be available for download on the County website.

What about the photos that don't win?

This website is a prime example of how we use public photo submissions to showcase the beauty and diversity of the Lac Ste. Anne region.
