Councillor Mike Derksen grew up in a rural farming community in northern Alberta and has called Lac Ste. Anne County home for the past 15 years. Since 2008, he has owned and operated an electrical contracting business, gaining experience working in the oil and gas industry and supporting local farmers and agricultural operations.

Councillor Derksen and his wife also own and operate a small retail business in the Town of Onoway, giving them a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing small businesses in the region.

With well established community connections and a strong work ethic, Mike is committed to supporting local families, strengthening the regional economy, and ensuring the County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Outside of Council responsibilities, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
