A lifelong resident of the County, Reeve Jurgen Preugschas moved to the Mayerthorpe region in 1961. He graduated from Mayerthorpe High School and later completed agricultural studies in Germany.

Reeve Preugschas has spent his life in agriculture, taking over the family farm in 1972, which is now in its third generation. He is a founding member of Peak Swine Genetics–marketing breeding stock internationally and has served in leadership roles from local to international levels within the ag sector. His experience includes board appointments with Alberta Pork, the Canadian Pork Council, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, and the international sustainability committees associated with the Food and Agriculture Organization.

He has served as part-time commissioner with the Alberta Energy Regulator and contributed seven years on the board of Premium Brands Foods. Deeply committed to community service, Jurgen has also volunteered as a 4-H leader, hockey coach, church elder, local Fire Guardian, and SDAB member.
