The County is now accepting applications for various roles for advanced voting and election day.
Municipal elections are exciting but require lots of helping hands. The County is currently hiring for various roles for advanced voting and election day Poll Workers.
Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO)
The PDRO manages the voting station by supervising the election staff, confirming hall, staff and setting up the voting station, answering questions from scrutineers, maintaining control and security of the voting station, managing the vote count, and returning the ballot box, ballots and election materials to the Returning Officer on Election Day. PDROs must be available for two 4-hour paid training sessions either on September 26 or 27, 2025, and to work Election Day (approx. 8 am - 10 pm on Oct. 20, 2025). PDROs also have the opportunity to work at a 2-day Advance Voting Station on October 10 and 11, 2025. Pay is $25 per hour, training $150 flat fee, mileage is .50 cents/km for pickups and drop-offs only, cell phone usage allowance $10/day.
Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)
The DRO assists voters with the voting process. A DRO will greet, assist, and direct voters before they register to vote. The DRO will supply the ballot and voting instructions to electors, will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the voting station, and will assist in the counting of the ballots at the close of voting. The DRO must be available for a paid 4 hour training session on either September 26 or 27, 2025, at Cherhill Community Hall, and to work on Election Day (approx. 8 am to 10 pm on Oct. 20, 2025). DRO may have the opportunity to work a 2-day Advance Voting Station on October 10 and 11, 2025. Pay is $20 per hour, training $75 flat fee.
Information Officer (IO)
The IO is the first point of contact for a voter, the IO will greet, assist, verify voter is in the correct voting station, locate voter residence on map to verify Divisio, map reading, directing voters to correct voting table, they will also help to ensure cleanliness and order of the voting station and will assist in the counting of the ballots at the close of voting. The IO must be available for a paid 4-hour training session on either September 26 or 27, 2025, at Cherhill Community Hall, and to work on Election Day (approximately 8 am to 10 pm on Oct. 20, 2025). IO may have the opportunity to work at a 2-day Advance Voting Station on October 10 and 11, 2025. Pay is $20 per hour, training $75 flat fee.
Ballot Box Clerk (BBC)
The BBC is the last point of contact with a voter in the voting station. A BBC supervises the Ballot Box(es), they ensure that each ballot is initialled properly by the DRO before it is put in the ballot box by the voter, the BBC will thank each voter for voting, will be responsible to help ensure cleanliness of the voting station, and will assist in the counting of the ballots at the close of voting as well as clean up of the voting station. The BBC must be available for a paid 4-hour training session on either September 26 or 27, 2025, at Cherhill Community Hall, and to work on Election Day (approx. 8 am to 10 pm on Oct. 20, 2025). BBC may have the opportunity to work a 2-day Advance Voting Station on October 10 and 11, 2025. Pay is $20 per hour, training $75 flat fee.
Election Worker Standby
Standby workers are prepared to fill in positions of the Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO) or Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) that become vacant for Advance Voting and Election Day. The role filled by the standby worker will act as the job description for the PDRO and DRO identified in the posting. Standby workers must be available to fill positions on short notice and be available for a paid training session on September 26 or 27, 2025, at Cherhill Community Hall. Standby pay, if not called to work, is 3 hours. If called out, pay is by position as above.
