The Municipal General Election will take place Monday, October 20, 2025.

Municipal elections are held every four years, when County residents elect seven Councillors to a four-year term. Nominations for Councillors will be accepted by the County's returning officer until 12:00 noon on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Electoral divisions


Voting stations have been allocated to each of the County’s seven electoral divisions.

On election day, you must vote at a voting station allocated to the electoral division in which you reside.

Municipal General Election FAQ

When is election day?

The Municipal General Election will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025. Voting takes place at designated voting stations between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on this day.

Who is running for Council in 2025?

Nominations for Council open January 1, 2025. Individuals who intend to run as a candidate for Lac Ste. Anne County Councillor in the 2025 Municipal General Election must submit a written notice of intent to the County's returning officer. Once a notice of intent form is accepted as complete, an individual is allowed to be a candidate, accept contributions, or incur campaign expenses.

The final list of candidates will not be available until 24 hours after the period to submit nominations closes at 12:00 noon on September 22, 2025. Until the end of that 24 hour period, candidates may be able to withdraw their nomination.

Am I eligible to vote?

To vote in the 2025 Lac Ste. Anne County municipal general election:

  • You must be 18 years of age on Election Day — October 20, 2025
  • You must be a Canadian citizen
  • You must be a resident of Lac Ste. Anne County
  • You must provide authorized ID to verify your identify and place of residence
Who is eligible to vote?

In order to vote in the upcoming municipal general election, voters will be required to provide proof of their name and home address. The following types of verification meet the standard provincial requirement for one piece of identification:

  • Identification issued by a Canadian government, whether federal, provincial or local, or an agency of that government, that contains a photograph of the elector and their name and current address.
  • Proof of Identity and Ordinary Residence for Tenant Elector issued by the authorized representative of a commercial property management company.
  • Proof of Identity and Ordinary Residence for Homeless Elector issued by the authorized representative of a facility that provides services to the homeless.
  • Supportive Living Facility issued by the authorized representative of a supportive living facility or treatment centre.
  • Bank or credit card statement or personal cheque.
  • Correspondence issued by a school, college or university.
  • Government cheque or cheque stub.
  • Income or property tax assessment notice.
  • Insurance policy or coverage card.
  • Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee.
  • Pension plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation.
  • Residential lease or mortgage statement.
  • Statement of government benefits (for example, employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support or child tax benefit).
  • Utility bill (for example, telephone, public utilities commission, television, hydro, gas or water).
  • Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate.
How is the County Reeve appointed?

In Lac Ste. Anne County, the position of Reeve is not elected at large by electors of the County. As per the Municipal Government Act, one of the seven elected Councillors will be elected to serve as Reeve by a vote of Councillors at the Organizational Meeting of Council.

The Organizational Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Where and when can I vote?

In-Person Voting

On Election Day — October 20, 2025, eligible County electors will be able to vote in person at voting stations or advance voting stations. 

On Election Day, voters must vote at one of the voting stations allocated for the electoral division in which they reside. During advance voting, eligible County electors may vote at any available Voting Station.

If an elector meets certain conditions, they may request a special ballot that allows them to cast their vote via mail.

Advance and Institutional Voting

Advance Voting is available at three locations around the County on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, 2025.
