Why Wait? Step Up and Serve
Your Name on the Ballot Starts with a Few Pages of Paperwork
The Municipal General Election is set for Monday, October 20, and with less than 100 days to go the countdown is on. If you’ve been thinking about running for County Council, there is no better time to make your intentions known.
File a Notice of Intent
What is this? A Notice of Intent to run for office is a simple, non-binding way to let the community know you’re considering candidacy. It doesn’t replace a nomination form, but it shows your community you’re serious abut stepping up.
Whether you’re still deciding or ready to dive in, submitting a Notice of Intent is a great first step available to you.
Nomination Day: September 22
To officially appear on the ballot, you must submit your completed nomination papers by Nomination day, Monday, September 22, 2025, no later than 12:00 noon. After that, the nomination period closes, and candidates are confirmed.
But here’s the thing—you don’t have to wait. By filing your nomination papers early, you’ll gain more time to plan your campaign, connect with voters, and demonstrate your leadership. It also helps the County keep the process smooth and organized on Nomination Day.
Why Run?
Serving on County Council means having a seat at the table where key decisions are made—about roads, recreation, growth, budgets, and the overall direction of our community. If you care about the future of this region, this is your opportunity to help lead it.
So why wait?
Submit your Notice of Intent or better yet, complete your Nomination paperwork today. Candidate guides including detailed information and Nomination papers are available at LSAC.ca/election. And remember, we’re here to help every step of the way.
Be bold. Be ready. Be on the ballot this October.
