Provincial Bridge Construction Project

The County has been notified of an Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors bridge construction project on Highway 777 at the Sturgeon River Crossing.

Construction is scheduled to begin today, August 4, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed by October 15, 2026. To maintain traffic flow during the project, the province will construct a temporary bridge and bypass route. Allowing motorists to continue travelling through the area while work is underway.

This bridge is owned and maintained by the Province of Alberta, and the project is being planned and managed by Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. Lac Ste. Anne County is sharing this information as a courtesy to area residents, as construction projects on provincial roadways often generate inquiries from local motorists and area residents.

At this time, anticipated impact on traffic is expected to be low. However, drivers should be prepared for possible traffic pattern changes, reduced speed zones, construction equipment, and workers in the area throughout the construction period.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signage, follow traffic control measures, and use extra caution when travelling through construction zones.
