We are pleased to introduce our new Interactive Overland Flooding Recovery Map, designed to keep residents informed about recovery efforts across the community. This easy-to-use tool provides a visual overview of areas affected by overland flooding, identifies locations of concern, and allows users to track the status of recovery activities in real time.

Using an easy-to-understand colour-coded system, residents can quickly see the status of recovery efforts across impacted areas:

• Grey – Identified/In Progress: Areas that have been assessed due to flooding.
• Green – Completed: Areas where recovery efforts have been finished.

This interactive tool provides a transparent and centralized source of information, allowing residents to follow progress, understand where work is occurring, and stay up to date on recovery initiatives across the municipality.

Continuing Response and Recovery Efforts

The County continues to respond to widespread overland flooding across the region. While crews have made progress in many areas, ongoing rainfall and additional precipitation in the forecast continue to create new challenges. Conditions remain highly dynamic, with water levels, road conditions, and affected areas changing rapidly.

Rainfall amounts have varied significantly across the County, with some communities receiving considerably more precipitation than others. As a result, flooding impacts differ from one area to the next, and response efforts are being adjusted as conditions evolve.

County crews remain active throughout the region, focusing on road assessments, repairs and grading where possible, pumping operations, drainage improvements, and ongoing monitoring to identify priority areas. All response efforts are guided by public safety, available resources, and changing conditions on the ground.

We understand many residents are looking for assistance and updates. Please know that County staff across all departments are working diligently to support our communities and respond to a high volume of inquiries and service requests. Supporting Our Flood-Affected Lake Communities

As many residents and visitors prepare to enjoy the lakes this Canada Day—and throughout the coming weeks—we ask everyone to remember that many waterfront communities continue to experience significant flooding. Residents, businesses, neighbouring municipalities, community groups, and County crews are working tirelessly in recovery efforts from protecting critical infrastructure and roads, to shorelines and homes.

If you're spending time on or around the water, please help by keeping the following in mind:

• Slow down on the water. Large boat wakes can contribute to shoreline erosion and create additional challenges for residents working to protect their properties. Please minimize your wake whenever possible, particularly near residences and areas with high water levels.
• Respect private property. Do not enter flooded or damaged properties without permission.
• Respect road closures and barricades. Flooded or damaged roads can become unsafe without warning. Never drive around barricades or through standing water.
• Avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Some roads remain closed, restricted, or subject to rapidly changing conditions. If you do not need to travel into a flood-affected area, please consider postponing your visit.
• Give crews room to work. Municipal crews, emergency responders, contractors, and utility providers continue to work throughout the region. Please slow down, follow all directions, and allow them to work safely.
• Stay informed before you travel. Check current road closures, advisories, and local updates before heading out, as conditions can change quickly.
• Be a respectful neighbour. Many residents have experienced property damage, evacuations, and significant disruption. Patience, understanding, and consideration can make a meaningful difference during this difficult time.

Please Respect Affected Communities

We understand that people are interested in seeing the impacts of the flooding. However, we ask that you avoid travelling into affected neighbourhoods simply to view conditions or take photographs. Limiting unnecessary traffic helps residents, emergency responders, and municipal crews focus on response and recovery efforts.

Effective midnight tonight, the 60% vehicle axle weight restriction will be lifted and haul permits are hereby reinstated.

This map is an important tool designed to help residents, motorists, and local businesses understand how ongoing flooding, washouts, and road damage are affecting different areas of the County.

 The revised map highlights areas experiencing:

• Identified issues — indicated by grey circles
• Current road closures — indicated in red
• Roadways with restrictions in place — indicated in yellow

These updates are based on the latest field assessments, reports from crews, and real-time observations from across the region. Because water continues to move through the landscape and conditions can shift quickly, the map is considered a snapshot—it will be updated as new information becomes available.

 What This Means for Residents and Drivers

We continue to closely monitor conditions as the current rain event continues. Road Conditions Advisory

Non-essential travel on County roads is strongly discouraged.

Due to accumulating rainfall, road conditions are extremely poor with damaged roadways, soft shoulders, washouts, and excess water across the region.

If you must travel, drive to the conditions. Slow down, use extra caution, and be prepared for delays, detours, road closures, and rapidly changing conditions.

If your trip is not essential, please stay off County roads if at all possible. Reducing traffic helps keep everyone safe and allows emergency responders and County crews to continue their critical response efforts.

Sandbags Available for Minor Residential Flooding

Our communities continue to experience areas of overland flooding due to weather conditions. To assist property owners in protecting their homes, the County has made a limited supply of sandbags available for self-service pickup.

Presently, 500 sandbags are available at each of the following two distribution sites:

Preparing for the Days Ahead

As County crews continue to respond to the impacts of recent rainfall, we are also preparing for additional weather expected over the next few days.

Crews will continue monitoring roads, culverts, drainage infrastructure, and other areas of concern while making proactive preparations where possible. Standing water and saturated ground conditions mean road conditions can change rapidly.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring weather forecasts and County updates at LSAC.ca and the County's official communication channels.

With additional rain over the coming days, now is a good time to prepare your property.

Residents are encouraged to:

• Check that sump pumps are working properly.
• Inspect septic systems and ensure pumps are operating as intended.
• Clear ditches and drainage paths on your property where it is safe to do so.
• Monitor low-lying areas for standing water and move valuables or equipment if necessary.
• Check downspouts on your eaves to ensure flow moves away from your foundations.
• Check your basement for water.
• Get assistance when necessary, and, in an emergency, dial 911.

Standing water and saturated ground conditions mean road and drainage conditions can change quickly. Public Works crews will continue monitoring affected areas and responding as needed.

County crews continue to make progress in assessing and responding to the impacts of recent heavy rainfall and overland flooding across the municipality. Please be advised that the water continues to move through the area, resulting in increased impacts or changing impacts to our roadways. Rapidly changing road conditions will continue.

Please note the following:

• A 60% axle weight road ban has been implemented on all County roads until further notice.
• All existing haul permits are suspended until further notice.
• At present, non-essential travel on County roads is discouraged. Motorists who must travel should exercise extreme caution and be prepared for changing road conditions, delays, detours, or closures.
• Residents, contractors, and permit holders with questions regarding road conditions, road bans, or haul permits are encouraged to contact Public Works by calling the County Administration Office at 1.866.880.5722 or 780.785.3411.
• We recommend that residents check their own properties, basements and low-lying areas for water.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the County website for updates as conditions evolve.

PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELLING IN AFFECTED AREAS OF THE COUNTY. MOST IMPORTANTLY: MOTORISTS MUST NOT DRIVE ACROSS WATER-COVERED ROADWAYS AS THERE IS EXTREME DANGER IN THIS ACTIVITY. 

With enough water, a vehicle will begin to float above the roadway and out of the control of the operator; thereby placing the occupants in extreme danger. Please do not place yourself in unnecessary danger by attempting an unsafe crossing of a flooded roadway. Instead, take a detour route around the affected area.

Please report any water over roadways to the County as soon as possible via 1.866.880.5722 or LSAC@LSAC.ca. Photos with dates and times, pinpointed locations and any other relevant details will greatly assist the County in mapping and prioritizing areas that require mitigation.

Important Notes about Overland Flooding

• Our foremost concern is public safety. Residents along known flood plains must take precautions where flooding is occurring. Stay away from river and stream banks. Stay away from all fast-moving water. Fast-moving water is dangerous, and people, pets, livestock and wildlife can be swept away without warning. Use extreme caution, at all times.
• Area roadways are likely to be impacted, and locations may change as water is mitigated, necessary repairs are made, and new developments occur. 
• Agricultural producers are encouraged to actively move livestock and equipment as soon as possible in the areas where annual flooding is known to occur and from low lying areas where there is potential for flooding.
• All residents should actively monitor road conditions, water levels and low-lying areas, both on their properties and throughout the County for the safety of themselves, other residents, livestock and property.
• Barricades, signage and detours may be in place on affected roads. These are put in place for public safety, and we ask that they not be removed or altered in any way.
• We strongly urge motorists to drive to the road and weather conditions while they navigate in impacted areas as we work through this event.
