New Water Truck Fill Station Now Open Near Darwell

Lac Ste. Anne County and West Inter Lake District (WILD) Water Commission are pleased to announce that the new water truck fill station at the Darwell Fire Hall is now fully operational and serving the community.

The new facility represents an important investment in local infrastructure and will improve the access to municipal water for commercial water haulers, agricultural producers, and other authorized users. By providing a dedicated and efficient location to access water, the fill station will help streamline operations, reduce travel times, and enhance service for residents and businesses throughout the area.

The fill station is strategically located within an active municipal service hub that includes County infrastructure: Fire Services Station 5,  Public Works Building, Darwell Transfer Sation, and the Darwell Lagoon Commission wastewater lagoon facility. As a result, the area already experiences regular traffic from municipal and commercial vehicles, and the addition of the new fill station is expected to increase the number of water trucks accessing the intersections and surrounding roadways.

To support safe and efficient traffic flow, stop signs have been installed and roadway line marking are being added to further clarify vehicle movements and traffic patterns.

Safety Reminder

With increased activity around the site, users are encouraged to exercise extra caution when travelling through the area. Please remain alert for large trucks entering, exiting, and turning within the intersection, and allow additional space and time for these vehicles to manoeuvre safely.

As drivers become familiar with the new facility and traffic patterns adjust, everyone’s patience and cooperation will help ensure the area remains safe and efficient for all users.

The successful completion of the fill station is another great example of WILD Water Commission and Lac Ste. Anne County working together to enhance services, support local industry, and invest in infrastructure that benefits the broader community.

Local Water Station Remains Open
The County’s free water fill station located at the intersection of Highway 43 and Range Road 43, draws directly from local groundwater and is untreated non-potable water. It is intended primarily for non-potable agricultural uses. The County provides this basic unmetered fill station as a courtesy for local farmers and general utility use.

West Inter Lake District (WILD) Regional Water Services Commission delivers treated, potable drinking water to municipalities, summer villages, and First Nations Across Lac Ste. Anne and Parkland Counties. The commission purchases this water—originally sourced from the North Saskatchewan River and treated in Edmonton—and distributes it throughout the region via a dedicated pipeline network and bulk water truck stations.

This expansion was funded through grant opportunities via the Water for Life Program. This program serves both; as the province’s overarching water management strategy and as a targeted provincial infrastructure funding grant designed to support rural municipalities and regional commissions.
