Cherhill Legion Branch 184 Marks Milestone
Commemorating eight decades of service
Community members and local officials gathered on May 2 to celebrate a monumental milestone: the 80th anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion, Cherhill Branch 184.
For eight decades, Branch 184 has served as a cornerstone of the Cherhill community, providing a dedicated space for remembrance, camaraderie, and unwavering support for those who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Honouring a Legacy of Support
The anniversary event highlighted the Branch’s significant contributions to the welfare of Veterans and their families. Over the years, the Legion has remained steadfast in its mission to ensure that the sacrifices of our Veterans are recognized and their needs are met within the local community.

To mark the occasion, Michael Cooper, Member of Parliament for St. Albert–Sturgeon River, attended the celebration to offer congratulations. Mr. Cooper spoke about the enduring importance of the Legion’s work in the region and the vital role Branch 184 plays in the federal riding.
A Joint Recognition
Representing Lac Ste. Anne County, Reeve Jurgen Preugschas and Councillor Ed Gifford (Division 4) joined Mr. Cooper to present the Branch with a commemorative scroll. The presentation formally recognized the Legion’s eighty years of community leadership and service.
Over the past 80 years, Branch 184 has made significant contributions to supporting our Veterans. This service-focused organization remains an incredibly important part of the County's community fabric.
Looking Forward
The 80th-anniversary celebration was not only a time to look back at the branch's storied history, but also an opportunity to reaffirm the community's support for the Legion’s future. As Branch 184 enters its ninth decade, it remains a vital hub for volunteers, families, and residents of Lac Ste. Anne County.
