Emergency Preparedness: Knowing Your Community
Consider starting a contact list for people who live in your neighbourhood
Have you introduced yourself to your neighbours? Being connected with your community is a predictor of resilience in the event of a disaster or crisis situation.
In a recent survey of Albertans, 90% of respondents said they did not have a community contact list. Neighbours are often the first ones to respond when a situation occurs. Knowing your neighbours makes it easier to ask for and give assistance. Take a step to being more prepared by starting a contact list for people that live in your neighbourhood to ensure that your community remains safe.
