The County is committed to the safety and well-being of all who live in and visit our community. We understand that emergencies can happen anytime, and we want to offer reassurance that we are fully prepared to respond effectively and efficiently.

Emergency Management Readiness

Our Emergency Management Plan is regularly updated and tested to ensure we are ready to respond to a range of potential incidents, from natural disasters such as wildfires or floods to other public safety threats. County staff are well trained in emergency management procedures, and we conduct routine exercises to strengthen coordination and response capabilities across departments.

The County works closely with provincial and federal emergency agencies, ensuring our efforts align with broader response frameworks and best practices.

Mutual Aid Agreements Strengthen Our Response

In addition to our own resources, the County participates in a network of Mutual Aid Agreements with neighbouring municipalities. These partnerships enable us to quickly mobilize additional personnel, equipment, and expertise when needed—supporting a coordinated regional response to larger-scale or complex incidents. They also allow us to extend support beyond our borders when other communities are in need.

Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services is currently providing mutual aid fire services to Sturgeon County—with no impact to our level of service.

Public Safety and Preparedness During Wildfire Season

We would like to thank our residents for their continued diligence in preventing hazardous conditions by being ever-vigilant and following the FIRE BAN currently in place. We encourage continued caution when it comes to the potential for wildfires.

We encourage everyone to be prepared and stay aware, as conditions may change rapidly. Here are some important steps residents can take:

  • Develop a neighbourhood support network to help those who may need assistance in an emergency. If you’re aware of anyone struggling with the idea of evacuation due to health or mobility, please check in or notify the County.
  • Download the Alberta Emergency Alert app or visit alberta.ca/alberta-emergency-alert.aspx to stay informed in real time.
  • If you see smoke, call 9-1-1 and report the exact location.
  • Create a 72-Hour Emergency Kit for your household. Learn more at alberta.ca/BePrepared.
  • Check albertafirebans.ca for up-to-date Fire Ban information.
  • Inspect any old burn piles from winter burning to ensure they have not re-ignited.

Lac Ste. Anne County thanks all residents for their continued cooperation and encourages everyone to stay informed, be prepared, and stay safe!
