You're Sure to Encounter Weed Inspectors in the Area
If you see County weed inspectors in your area, they are visiting every property to check for noxious weeds identified by the provincial Weed Control Act. If they find noxious weeds, a weed inspection report will be mailed to the landowner.
Under the provincial Weed Control Act, County weed inspectors have the appointed authority to enter any private property to monitor for noxious and prohibited noxious weeds and enforce compliance with the Act.
The purpose of this program is to educate and inform property owners about regulated weeds found on their land. In-person visits are conducted to provide the most effective guidance and support.
Here’s how it works:
- Initial Contact: The inspector will attempt to contact you in person at your residence. This allows us to start the conversation and book an inspection.
- No Response: If you are not home, they will leave a door knocker card with a date range for their return visit and contact information for any questions you may have and to book an inspection appointment.
- Inspection: On their return, the inspector will enter the property to check for noxious and prohibited noxious weeds. Inspectors will not go past closed gates or enter areas with livestock without permission.
Please note, under the Weed Control Act, it is illegal to willfully obstruct or delay an inspector in their duties.
