County Fire Services Holds Annual Awards Ceremony
Firefighters honoured for their community service
The Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services Annual Awards Ceremony continues to stand as a proud tradition—recognizing the courage, dedication, and service excellence of the County's firefighters and support teams.
"It's an occasion when we come together as one fire family, to reflect and to remember, and above all to celebrate the courage, resilience, and dedication of Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services. "
This year's gathering brought together station members, their families, supporters, and County representatives for an evening of celebration and reflection.
The program opened with a warm welcome for Deputy Chief Bent Sanderson, who served as the evening's emcee. Reeve Joe Blakeman delivered remarks on behalf of County Council, expressing deep gratitude for the contributions of Fire Services personnel. Award presentations by station leaders followed, celebrating milestones, outstanding performance, and long-standing service.
Guests enjoyed touching tributes, a video recap of the year's highlights, and a shared meal among colleagues and supporters. Fire Chief Randy Schroeder closed the evening with heartfelt words of appreciation for the team's professionalism and community spirit.
This annual celebration not only highlights individual and collective accomplishments, but also reaffirms the essential role that Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services plays in protecting and strengthening the community.
The following are the medals, awards, and special presentations bestowed throughout the evening:
Station Awards:
Rookie of the Year
- Firefighter Adam Janczak – East Station
- Recruit Firefighter Riley Stoney – Station 4
- Recruit Firefighter Tracy Properzi – Station 5
- Recruit Firefighter Brooklyn Topley – Station 7
Awarded to the top Recruit at each Station, for outstanding work and commitment to serve. To be eligible, service must be less than 1 year. The officer of the Station votes for candidates.
Firefighter of the Year
- Senior Firefighter Miranda Maloney– East Station
- Firefighter Eric Gerhardt– Station 3
- Firefighter Brennan Hodgetts– Station 4
- Firefighter Timothy Bolan – Station 5
- Firefighter Heath Bailey– Station 7
This firefighter exemplifies the meaning of volunteering, work ethic, drive, determination, commitment, and sacrifice. This firefighter goes above and beyond to support the mission of the fire service, providing support to the station and the community. Awarded to any eligible active Firefighter from each Station (recruits are exempt) as voted on by the firefighters/officers from each Station.
Service Awards:
- 5 or 5+ Years of Service to Lac Ste Anne County – Firefighter Christine Hauch – Station 4
- 15 or 15+ Years of Service to Lac Ste. Anne County – Captain Edward Pardy – Station 3
- 30 or 30+ Years of Service to Lac Ste. Anne County – Fire Chief Randy Schroeder
A firefighter who serves 5, 10, 15, or 20 years in good standing with Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services receives a plaque.
Medal Presentations:
- 12 Yr Alberta Emergency Services Medal – Captain Edward Pardy
- 12 Yr Alberta Emergency Services Medal – Senior Firefighter Melinda Pardy
- 12 Yr Alberta Emergency Services Medal – Senior Firefighter Calvin Moon
Alberta Emergency Services Medal is awarded to individuals who serve in Alberta and are members of the Fire Service, EMS, Dispatchers, Police Officer, Search and Rescue, Emergency Management Agencies, Correction Officers, Peace Officers. Medal eligibility is for 12 years of service (does not have to be continuous, provided all years served are after January 1, 2000). Bronze Bar 22 Years, Silver Bar 32 Years, Gold Bar 40 Years.

Please note: Station 6 Mayerthorpe awards recipients will be handed out at the Mayerthorpe Fireman’s Ball on October 4 at the Mayerthorpe Diamond Centre.
