Motion Carried to Accept Settlement in Administration Building Lawsuit
Motion passed on Dec. 15 to accept a settlement offer of $8,456,000
At the December 15, 2023 regular meeting, Lac Ste. Anne County council passed a motion to accept a settlement offer of $8,456,000 for the administration building lawsuit — made following a mediation process and as recommended by legal counsel.
The lawsuit had been taken up against the parties involved in the County Administration Office’s design, engineering, project management, and construction. The objective was to obtain financial recovery from the parties responsible for this situation to offset the cost implications to the County. All matters related to the lawsuit are confidential, including the settlement details.
Lac Ste. Anne County will invest the total amount in a secure growth savings account while evaluating options for the County Administration Office until further council decisions are made regarding this matter.
