14th Annual County Photo Contest Underway

Showcase the creative pastimes, crafts, and outdoor traditions that bring our rural communities to life!
Get your cameras ready — the County’s popular photo contest is back for its 14th year! Area residents are encouraged to submit their most striking photos that showcase what they love to do in their downtime. The submission phase runs until October 15, 2026.
2026 Theme: Hobbies
This year’s theme celebrates what keeps your hands busy and your mind inspired. From backyard workshops, quilting frames, and gardens to flour-dusted kitchen counters, quiet fishing spots, and workshop projects, the County is seeking candid, documentary-style photos that capture local pastimes in action.
Subject Matter Tip
Capture authentic moments rather than stiff, posed people facing the camera. Show us your hobby in action: the quiet focus at a quilting frame, a wood carving close-up, or an early-morning reflection on the vintage car you've been working on.
Prizes & Calendar Features
Thirteen winning entries will be selected to fill the pages of the County’s official 2027 wall calendar, published this fall and distributed free to residents across the municipality.
- One (1) Grand Prize: $250 + Calendar Cover & Monthly Feature
- Twelve (12) Category Prizes: $100 each + Monthly Feature
How to Participate
Submissions are accepted exclusively online through the County portal from September 1 until October 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
- Who Can Enter: Open to all residents of Lac Ste. Anne County (excluding County staff and elected officials).
- Entry Limit: Up to five (5) photos per resident (maximum 1 cash prize per entrant).
- Photo Style: Authentic, action-oriented shots (avoid stiff, posed portraits).
- Key Requirements: Photos must be taken within County boundaries within the last 12 months, submitted in horizontal (landscape) format, full-colour, and at least 3000 × 2400 pixels (high resolution).
Public Voting & Winner Selection
Following a staff eligibility review, all qualifying entries will be published in an online voting gallery on Monday, October 19. Residents will have two full weeks—until Sunday, November 1—to vote for their favorite entries. Verified winners will be announced publicly on Monday, November 9, 2026.
