Lessard Lake Estates Wildfire Update

The County has provided a Lessard Lake Estates wildfire update effective Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 10:00 am.

What's New

In the late afternoon and into the evening of Monday, May 8 the County initiated contact via telephone with the entire list of 197 Lessard Lake Estates property owners.

We spoke to those whose properties were not affected and to those whose properties sustained varying degrees of loss.
We were not successful in contacting everyone.
If you as an owner were not contacted, please call the County at 780.785.3411 or tollfree 1.866.880.5722.
If you are a renter/caretaker of a property, please contact your property owner to ensure they have been made aware.

We are developing the re-entry plan and will be implementing access in phases. Each Lessard Lake Estates property owner will be informed as to which phase their property is in. This will allow for re-energizing of power with Fortis as well as limit the amount of incoming traffic to the subdivision.

The County appreciates your patience; we understand you’re anxious to get back to your property. Please know that we are working very hard to get you access within the next 48 hours.

The County reminds all residents that a Fire Ban and an ATV/UTV Ban (including dirt bikes) remains in effect.

All updates and directives related to the wildfires will continue to be posted to the County website and Facebook page. Residents who visit CountyConnect.ca and opt in to the County’s emergency notification system can also receive wildfire status updates via text, email or voice message.

Prior Wildfire Update Issued Sunday, May 7 at 6:00 pm:

The conditions within Lac Ste. Anne County have improved and the status of the two wildfires is now considered contained and held.
A MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDER remains in effect for all lots within the Lessard Lake Estates, pending utilities restoration and the completion of site hazards mitigation. The safety of those residents are paramount, and it is possible that this may remain in effect for as long as a week.
All other Lac Ste. Anne County area evacuation alert notices have been rescinded.
Residents that were on evacuation alert should remain vigilant and prepared in the event that conditions worsen with new fire starts that may impact them.
The County reminds all residents that a Fire Ban and an ATV/UTV Ban (including dirt bikes) remains in effect.
As fire risks still remain high, and precipitation remains minimal, there is the potential for conditions to worsen anywhere in the County.

A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for for residents from Rge Rd 51 to Rge Rd 60 between TwpRd 553 and TwpRd 560 — except north of Lessard Lake.

All residents in the EVACUATION WARNING AREA must remain prepared to evacuate on very short notice. Prepare to be away for 72 hours.
