Winter squash, carrots, garlic, apples, and more! A productive garden yields plenty to eat fresh and to store through the winter. Let's talk about it now, so you know how much to plant. Or perhaps you like to buy in bulk at the local farmer's market. Join Lac Ste. Anne County Horticulturist Lorraine Taylor to learn which crops and specific cultivars store best. Pick up some tips on harvesting, cleaning, and curing and take a look inside some cold rooms.

Begonia, dahlia, canna lily, and gladiolus- these are just some of the splendid summer flowering bulbs we can grow. Many have big, beautiful flowers and they bloom for much of the summer. Unlike our hardy spring flowering bulbs, the storage roots of these tender perennials must be stored indoors for the winter. Join Lac Ste. Anne County Horticulturist Lorraine Taylor to learn about starting them early, planting, and summertime care. Come and find out how you can add these pretty plants to your landscape.

Thursday, May 30: Plant Swap & Learn

Sangudo Public Library | Drop-in from 2 to 5pm. Perennial plant propagation session at 3:00 pm.

The end of May is a great time to look at your flower beds to see where you can tuck in a few more plants. Join us in the library to swap some plants. Do you have a few too many vegetable transplants? Did you divide your hostas and have plenty to share? Put them in a pot, add a label, and bring them along to swap. At 3:00pm join us for a 30-minute session with County Horticulturist Lorraine Taylor to learn about Herbaceous Perennial Propagation- There are so many ways to make several plants from one. See a demonstration of different ways to multiply your perennials by division, root and stem cuttings, layering, and more.
