The Darwell Lagoon Commission (DLC) invites residents and stakeholders to a public information session regarding the future of wastewater services in our community.
Event Overview
The Darwell Lagoon Commission (DLC) has operated an evaporative wastewater lagoon system for approximately 30 years. This facility is now approaching the end of its service life and presenting operational limitations. The lagoon system may be required to cease operations as early as August 2026. The Darwell Lagoon Commission has been tasked to find a long-term solution for the continued provision of wastewater services.
After reviewing available funding options and long-term servicing needs, the extension of the Darwell Phase B pipeline to the underutilized North East Lagoon was identified as the most viable solution.
The North East Lagoon currently has available capacity and holds an existing wastewater discharge license that can accommodate receiving flows from the Darwell Lagoon. The Darwell Lagoon Commission (DLC) has secured $16.4 million in provincial grant funding to construct approximately 38 kilometres of wastewater force main, along with one new lift station.

This session is an opportunity for community members to learn about the project timeline, technical details, and how the transition to the North East Lagoon—which currently has the capacity and licensing to accommodate these flows—will benefit the region.
Open House Location and Agenda
The open house will take place in Council Chambers at the County Administration Office located at 56521 Rge Rd 65 (1.5km east of Sangudo). The agenda is being prepared and will be made available at the May 7 session.
