View Current Events CalendarSign up for a workshop to build a nest box for your property.
A Conservation Coordinator with the Edmonton and Area Land Trust will lead the workshop, talk about the birds that use the nest boxes, how to properly maintain them, and share some general bird conservation information.
Call the Library at 780-924-3491 to pre-register by October 28, or email [email protected]. The cost is $10.00/person.
Adults and youth are welcome. Anyone younger than 18 years old must have an adult with them.
Many landowners install bird boxes to support habitat for several kinds of cavity nesting birds, such as chickadees, bluebirds, and tree swallows.
About the Edmonton and Area Land Trust (EALT)
The EALT works to protect natural areas to benefit wildlife and people, and to conserve biodiversity and all nature’s values.
With the help of volunteers and neighbours, EALT stewards 22 conservations lands around Edmonton. We are fortunate to have two sites in Lac Ste. Anne County, both north of Darwell. The JBJ McDonald Conservation Land and Lu Carbyn Nature Sanctuary are open to the public all year, with well maintained and clearly mapped trails. Workshops like this one help EALT educate the public to protect nature for future generations. Check out www.ealt.ca for more details.
This workshop is hosted by the Alberta Beach Library along with George Pegg Botanic Garden.
We thank Lac Ste. Anne County Agricultural Services for funding, as well as Village of Alberta Beach, Summer Village of Val Quentin, Summer Village of Sunset Point, and Summer Village of Castle Island for FCSS funding.
