  • Theme: Hobbies (capturing local pastimes, crafts, outdoor recreation, and creative pursuits within the municipality)
  • Eligibility: Open to all residents living within the municipal boundaries of Lac Ste. Anne County. County employees are excluded from entering
  • Prize Limit: Entrants may submit up to five (5) photos, but an individual entrant is eligible to win only one (1) cash prize per contest year

Submission Period & Entry Process

  • Contest Dates: Submissions open September 1, 2026, at 8:00 AM MDT and close October 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM MDT.
  • Method of Entry: All entries must be submitted digitally via the online submission form at LSAC.ca/photo-contest. Entries sent by mail, email, or in-person delivery will not be accepted.
  • Form Upload Limit: The maximum total upload limit per submission form is 40 MB. If multiple high-resolution photos exceed 40 MB combined, entrants must submit them through separate form entries.
  • Responsibility: The County accepts no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete submissions due to technical failures, network congestion, or browser incompatibilities.

Photo Specifications & Technical Requirements

By participating in the County Photo Contest, each entrant agrees that their submissions comply with all conditions stated in the rules below.

General Submission Parameters

  • Location: Photos must depict subject matter located within the physical boundaries of Lac Ste. Anne County. Location details must be provided on the submission form.
  • Recency: Photos must have been taken within the 12 months preceding September 1, 2026 (on or after September 1, 2025).
  • Orientation: Horizontal (landscape) format only. Vertical (portrait) photos will be disqualified due to calendar layout constraints.
  • Resolution: Photos must be a minimum of 3000 × 2400 pixels (typically an original file size of 2 MB to 3 MB or larger). Images must be sharp and capable of clear reproduction at 10" × 8" at 300 DPI.
  • File Formats: Accepted file formats are .JPG, .PNG, or .TIF.
  • Authenticity & Formatting:
    • Photos must be full-colour (grayscale, sepia tone, or monochrome conversions are prohibited).
    • Heavy digital manipulation, composite imagery, artistic filters, watermarks, signatures, borders, or text overlays will result in automatic disqualification.
    • Minor exposure, contrast, and cropping adjustments are permitted.
  • Prior Publication: Photos must be original work that has not been previously published, exhibited publicly, or selected as a winner in any other contest.

Model, Minor & Location Permissions

  • Personal Consent: Entrants warrant that they have obtained express permission from all identifiable individuals featured in their photo for the image to be published across County digital platforms and in print.
  • Minors: If a photo depicts recognizable individuals under the age of majority (18 years of age), the entrant warrants that explicit parental or legal guardian consent was obtained. The County reserves the right to request signed parental release forms prior to confirming any prize award.
  • Third-Party Rights: Submissions must not contain visible commercial logos, trademarks, or copyrighted material owned by third parties.

Copyright & Image Usage Rights

  • Ownership: Entrants retain full ownership and copyright of their submitted photographs.
  • License Grant: By submitting an entry, the entrant grants Lac Ste. Anne County a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, publish, display, crop, and distribute the image across any medium—including print publications, wall calendars, websites, social media, and promotional materials—for municipal, editorial, and regional promotional purposes without further compensation or notice.
  • Moral Rights: Entrants waive all moral rights in favour of the County for the purposes outlined above.

Voting, Verification and Declaration of Winners

Audit, Moderation & Disqualification

  • Pre-Voting Audit: Staff will review all incoming entries following the October 15 deadline. Submissions that do not meet technical, location, orientation, or eligibility guidelines will be removed prior to public gallery publishing.
  • Public Voting Period: Online voting runs from October 19, 2026, to November 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM MDT.
  • Voting Rules: Voters may vote for multiple photos, but are restricted to one (1) vote per photo per 24-hour period per IP address.
  • Fraudulent Voting: The County monitors voting data for automated scripts, vote-farming, and network manipulation. Fraudulent votes will be subtracted during the post-voting audit. Entrants engaging in deliberate vote manipulation will be disqualified.

Winner Determination & Prizes

  • Prizes Awarded:
    • One (1) Grand Prize: $250 CAD + Calendar Cover Feature
    • Twelve (12) Category Prizes: $100 CAD each + Monthly Calendar Feature
  • Selection Process: Public voting tallies establish the shortlist of top-voted eligible photos. County staff will audit the top entries for compliance and curate the final 13 calendar photos based on seasonal fit, visual composition, and print quality. Staff will select the single entry best suited for the cover as the Grand Prize winner.
  • Single Prize Enforcement: If an entrant submits multiple photos that finish in the top voting ranks, only their highest-rated eligible entry will receive a cash prize and calendar feature. The remaining position(s) will pass to the next highest-voted eligible submission from a different resident.
  • Winner Notification: Verified winners will be notified via the contact details provided on their entry form and publicly announced on November 9, 2026.
  • General Conditions & Liability
    • Rule Modifications: The County reserves the right to adjust contest dates, modify rules, or cancel/suspend the contest in the event of technical corruption, security breaches, or administrative necessity.
    • Limitation of Liability: By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Lac Ste. Anne County, its elected officials, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages arising out of participation in this contest or the acceptance and use of any awarded prize.
    • Governing Law: This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations, and is void where prohibited by law.
