Lac Ste. Anne County is seeking 6 Apprentices to join our Fire Services Team. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidates will hold responsibility for the following essential functions (but not limited to):

  • To learn in an apprentice style about first response in the role of a firefighter.
  • To learn about fire prevention and education and to assist in the delivery of this information to the public.
  • Learn Fire Smart Principles.
  • Report for shifts at assigned Stations.
  • Respond to emergency incidents.
  • Participate in training programs to develop and enhance skills.
  • Complete reports and forms as assigned.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


  • Ability to effectively locate addresses within the County.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment including emergent and non emergent events.
  • Ability to interpret information and comprehend messages provided through written or verbal communication.
  • Ability to modify approach to communication to deal with specific situations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations with respect to provincial legislation and Operational Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of apparatus, equipment, and service delivery area of the Station assigned.
  • Meet the objectives of training requirements.

Salary: $21.00/hr.
Hours of work: This is an 8 week program requiring 35 hours per week starting July 2, 2024.
