Transfer Stations and Landfill

Meeting the County's Waste Management Needs

There are eight (8) Transfer Stations throughout the County, in addition to one main landfill site. Each location includes recycling facilities. County residents must show identification, in addition, their transfer station card when dropping residential waste. People living in towns, villages or summer villages must take their waste to the Main Landfill Site and pay a fee.

All furniture with springs are subject to a tippage surcharge. Examples of items include, but are not limited to, sofas, lazyboy chairs, box springs and mattresses. The surcharge revenue is used each year to rent a shredder for these items, thus, reducing the amount of space being taken up at the landfill.

PLEASE NOTE: If someone else hauls your solid waste to either a transfer station or the landfill, you must authorize it, either up to the equivalent of a one-ton load, or for loads over one ton.

This table shows the hours of operation for the County's landfill and transfer stations throughout the summer months (April 1 to October 31). Please consult the map at the bottom of this page for the location of these facilities.
