The Information Technology department made considerable progress in 2016/2017 with several key projects and implementations, from software and systems upgrades to the launch of a new County website and social media program.
Hardware and IT Services Management
The IT department was able to reach a five-year Managed IT Services Agreement, in place as of December 1, 2016 with Trinus Technologies. Server Infrastructure was replaced in early 2017.
The IT department installed and troubleshot the new business licensing module through Great Plains Dynamics for the issuing of yearly business licenses.
Out n’ About for Outlook Software was implemented in July 2017, and integrates directly with Microsoft Outlook for employee sign in/sign out and easy employee tracking for staff.
The IT department has also played an active role in the implementation of Laserfiche by the County. Improvements have been made to how staff will use the software and what the software will be used for in the near future.
Website and Social media
The IT department assisted in the revision and redesign of the Lac Ste. Anne County Website in 2015. The new website was designed to be a more user-friendly interface, and was designed for future improvements such as posting County Council Meeting Agendas and Minutes for ease of access for County Ratepayers.
Due to the failure of the 2015 redesign to meet performance and appearance expectations, the website was redeveloped again in 2016. This redesign was led by Rdeca Group, the County’s Communications Support Consultant, and was implemented at no additional cost.
Also in 2016, Rdeca Group assisted the County in rolling out its social media presence. Since this implementation, the County has become active on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram, and continues to monitor and pursue other social media opportunities that may benefit the County and its residents.
