On Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 am, an unveiling ceremony was held at the newly-named Peter Trynchy Airport (formerly the Mayerthorpe Airport).

Present at the event were Lac Ste. Anne/ParklandMLA Shane Getson; Lac Ste. Anne County Reeve Joe Blakeman; Lac Ste. Anne County Councillors Ross Bohnet and Lloyd Giebelhaus; and Mayerthorpe Councillor Pat Burns. Also in attendance was the guest of honour Peter Trynchy, accompanied by his son Marlin Trynchy and daughter Darlene Trynchy.

Following opening remarks by Reeve Blakeman and MLA Getson, the new Peter Trynchy Airport sign was unveiled as part of the commemoration. The airport will henceforth be known as the Peter Trynchy Airport, but will continue to be referenced as the Mayerthorpe Airport by pilots and airport personnel.

"The County is pleased to honour this long-standing community leader," stated Reeve Blakean. "Today's renaming ceremony is a small token of our appreciation for Mr. Trynchy's numerous contributions to the region."
